[re]stitch TAMPA international ideas competition

by Paola on Tuesday, 22nd November 2011 in Events

The [re]stitch TAMPA international ideas competition sponsored by the University of South Florida and the National Endowment for the Arts challenge designers to submit their visions for a new interface between the city of Tampa (Florida, U.S.A.) and the Hillsborough River.

The competition hopes to establish the Hillsborough River as a social, economic and ecological backbone for the city of Tampa. Proposals should include both urban landscapes and landscape infrastructure that reconnect the city to the waterfront as well as green infrastructure for the city center and surrounding areas. This infrastructure should foster a balance between the built and natural environments, including storm water management through productive landscapes.

The proposals are must be submitted by December 12, 2011; they will be evaluated by an international jury, which also includes a local stakeholder, and the competition results will shape future development of the waterfront and urban areas.
